8 Products to Support You Through an IVF or Egg Freezing Cycle

There are many products out there that promise to make going through fertility treatments easier, and it can feel like a lot of noise at a time when you’re already thinking about (and paying for!) so much. At the same time, we appreciate that there are some great products out there that can support you and give you that little extra boost of self care.

There’s nothing you have to buy on this list to have a comfortable cycle, but these are just a few products that our team thinks make the overall experience a bit more pleasant. Looking for a gift for someone going through an IVF or egg freezing cycle? Check out this article for some ideas!

1. Headspace Subscription

One of the symptoms of ovarian stimulation can be an increase in mood swings, and it’s also totally normal to have moments of anxiousness during and after your cycle as you’re awaiting results. In order to help regulate your moods and feel as grounded as possible during treatment, we highly recommend breathing exercises, through Headspace or any other breathwork apps. While it may not fully overhaul what you’re feeling, it will help you come back to a more centered space and focus on what you are able to control throughout the process - your outlook.

2. Shot Blocker

When starting an egg freezing or IVF cycle, many patients report that they’re most overwhelmed by the fact that they need to give themselves daily shots throughout the ~two-week cycle. While most patients find they are pros at giving themselves shots after the first few days, it never hurts to have a gadget around to aid in the process as you’re gaining your footing. This shot blocker is a favorite among the community for its blunt skin contact points that help distract from injection site pain while you are administering your medication.

3. Cosmetic pouch for meds

Whether or not you’ve seen the number of meds that people are dealing with during fertility treatment, you can rest assured that a cute cosmetic pouch to store them will brighten your day (and help keep everything organized!). For a super functional option, you can check out Myvitro. For something more fun and useable for more than just meds, we love this smiley one from Amazon. Just make sure that whatever you pick, it can be stored in your fridge to keep your medications at the right temperature while they aren’t being used!

4. Sweatsuit or Pajamas

As treatment moves along and you experience those bloated, full-feeling side effects while your follicles grow in your ovaries, you’re likely to want to ditch the jeans and tight-fitting pants to spend more time in stretchy, comfortable clothing. We love sweatsuits from Daily Drills, Richer Poorer, and Nuuds. Looking for a PJ option? Eberjey, Amazon Essentials, and Lunya all have great options in a variety of styles and price points.

And if you’re working from the office during your cycle, consider these Ultra-Stretch Ponte Pants from Quince in lieu of a more structured trouser, without sacrificing any of your professional style!

5. Heating Pad

After your egg retrieval, you may experience some light cramping in your lower abdomen - not dissimilar from period cramps. While you recover, it can be helpful to rest with a heating pad over your abdomen to soothe discomfort.

If you’re looking for a single-use option that you can wear on-the-go, Cora’s Simply Soothing Heat Patches come with adhesive so they stick across your lower abdomen or back, delivering cramp-soothing warmth for up to 8 hours once applied.

6. Weighted blanket or stuffed animal

Another product to help you relax and restore, weighted blankets claim to aid in deeper sleep cycles and a more revitalized morning the next day. We also love them for unwinding on the couch at the end of a chaotic day! You can find a variety of different shapes, colors, and weights online. Bearaby is a great option, as well as this Amazon one for a more budget friendly option. And if you want the comfort of a soft, weighted object that is also cute and cuddly, we love Hugimals - you can even bring your stuffed weighted animal with you to monitoring appointments!

7. P.volve Fitness Membership

Movement during fertility treatments can be a mental health lifesaver, but it’s important to only move in ways that are safe for your body during ovarian stimulation and will not increase the risk of ovarian torsion. Spring developed a program with P.volve to help people keep moving safely during fertility treatment, which also includes meditations to support you through the process. The program lives within the P.volve platform, use code ‘SPRING20’ for 20% off your membership!

8. Meal Prep or Delivery Services

While going through fertility treatments, it’s nice to have something as simple as your meals taken care of so you don’t have to worry about grocery shopping or cooking on days when you’d rather rest and relax. These days, there are so many great options to treat yourself to healthy and delicious already-made meals! Between UberEats, a Sakara subscription (use code ‘PN_SPRING20’ for 20% off!) or a local chef to prepare homemade meals, there are tons of options to keep you well-nourished throughout your cycle.
