After fellowship, Dr. Tran joined UCSF as Assistant Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology and the Principal Investigator at the Center for Regenerative Medicine, where he became a leading clinical researcher in ovarian insufficiency, endometriosis, and stem cell research. Dr. Tran is board certified in both Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility.
An award-winning physician-scientist with many grants, publications, and ground-breaking discoveries, Dr. Tran’s research mirrors his clinical interest in premature ovarian failure, endometriosis, and azoospermia. He was the first to generate primordial germ cells from patients with premature germ cell failure to investigate possible cures. He also patented a “first of its kind” procedure that uses sperm stem cells to treat male infertility, which earned the Society of Male Reproduction & Urology Scholar Award and the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) Scientific Prize Paper winner 2015.
