How Does Testosterone Relate to Male Fertility?

Measuring testosterone may be appropriate when evaluating certain male fertility concerns, particularly when symptoms, semen analysis findings or medical history suggest a possible hormonal factor.
Testosterone levels alone do not provide a complete assessment of male fertility. Results may need to be interpreted alongside semen analysis, other reproductive hormones, symptoms and medical history to understand whether a hormonal issue may be affecting reproductive function.
Why Testosterone and Sperm Production Are Different
Normal testosterone levels do not guarantee normal sperm production, and a testosterone result cannot replace a semen analysis. Hormone testing and semen testing evaluate different aspects of male reproductive function and may provide complementary information when used together.

How Are Testosterone Results Interpreted?

Low Testosterone and Fertility
